Brethren, i can't believe how quickly this past masonic year went! it seems like just yesterday that brian vance was installed as worshipful master for the second time ; of austin lodge 12. what a wonderful year we had. this year saw us certifying in all three degrees for the second consecutive year. we also started to get to know each other a little better by taking part in some social activities like the picnic, festive board, and movie nite. in addition, we started getting to know members of other lodges in district 50 a little better by starting our lodge visitation program and via the masters, wardens, and secretaries association meetings. this year we brought the traveling gavel back home to lodge 12 and challenged the other lodges in the district to come get it. we also took steps to place lodge 12 on a firmer footing. we voted to raise the price of an endowed membership to 0. we also started on our lodge 12 roadmap to insure that lodge 12 continues to run smoothly well into the future. finally, we started looking at our charitable giving in order to try to come up with ways to be able to make a bigger impact. i think this past year will go down in history as one of the best years in our history, and i think that past master vance will be remembered as one of the best and most effective worshipful masters lodge 12 has had. lodge 12 owes him a debt of gratitude. a few years ago when lodge 12 was having a leadership crisis, brian agreed to get back into line to help shore up the lodge. i hate to think of the precarious situation we would be in had he not stepped up and did what needed to be done. a lot of the programs that we did last year we will continue to do.
