Greetings midwest district convention. i hope that you all have been having a good year. alpha theta certainly has been. we have been busy with a lot of activities and service this year. last spring, we sponsored a dance with our school's chapter of sai. it was held at the music building and admission was free with the donation of a canned food item. we also participated in ndsu's relay for life event and raised money for the american cancer society in conjunction with this event. last spring, we began sending cards to other chapters for lesser recognized holidays. during marching band camp week this fall, we organized a photo scavenger hunt to help the marching band members get to know each other better. each fall we help out with the distributing and collecting of the uniforms for marching band. this year we came up with a new system using index cards to keep the process more organized. during marching band rehearsals, we helped by setting up the field and tearing it down. we also helped out at games by carrying the water coolers and cups into the stands. we organized a dinner for the marching band members and their parents during our marching band's parents weekend. we sold food and pop on the bus on our marching band's road trip to montana. we donated paper, ink and frames to print certificates for the awards at our marching band's annual banquet. we also have t-shirts made for the marching band every season. our prospective members organized the uniform room for their service project. we did leaf raking and sold coupon books for fund raisers in the fall. over winter break, we helped work the rooms at the north dakota all-state auditions. this spring we have been helping the two concert bands by setting up chairs before rehearsals. we also recently inducted two guest conductors that worked with our concert band as honorary members of our chapter. one of the guest conductors was jack stamp, composer and ray kramer, former director of bands at indiana. we also have tshirts made for the concert band every spring. it has been a productive year for alpha theta and i hope that we can continue to be productive over the next year. mots, jessica stevens president, alpha theta.
Greetings everyone, i hope everyone had a very happy easter. everyone is probably expecting me to start out with stories about the harley cruise we just went on. well, sorry to tell you, you will have to wait until the end of the article. first, i gotta tell everyone that some of us in the club have been at it again. now, i know you are probably thinking the worst and what kind of trouble have we gotten the club in now. but.shame on you !!! it's all good. you see, we have been up to raising money for charities again and actually getting some good publicity.finally. february was the second annual scavenger hunt, benefiting habitat for humanity this year, and the first all woman-built home. jessica, the recipient of the home, joined us on this event. she actually participated in the event with her car. she said she had a blast. she was overwhelmed by the support and the turn out for this event. she did not know what to say. she was pleased that she got to keep the dummy check i made up. i hope she had it framed and that it is on some wall in her new home. we were able to donate , 096 to habitat for humanity to help finish jessica's house. it also made sure that she had the money in her checking account that she needed in order to take possession of the house. i hear that jessica is moving into her house on friday april 7th. i hope to arrange a private tour of her house once she gets settled. so, stay tuned for details and join me in touring the house and in seeing the benefits of our hard work first hand. a special thank you to all that helped out with this event. pat & val, mitch, pete & donna, . and a very special thank you to beth biegel again for donating back her winnings. everyone probably knows the other person in the club that has been doing fabulous stuff for charities. it is none other than donna defant, our assistant director. in march, donna had another very successful st. patty's day rules for playing poker run to benefit the humane society. the event raised , 169.95. we had 167 riders and passengers and took over rasher tierney's and had a great time. this event really got the press this year. snn6 even came out during registration and interviewed donna our resident celebrity ; and taped a short piece which aired the next day on tv. i heard that my bike was the opening shot for this segment. and, yes, my bike was decorated appropriately for the occasion. i even had a leprechaun as a passenger. so, if you missed the show, you missed watching our chapter shine and get some good press. and now for the cruise story. it was everything i had hoped for and more. if you ever get a chance to go on this cruise, you need to. the escorted rides on san juan, st maarten, and st thomas were fabulous. the scenery was spectacular, and the places we stopped along the way were very interesting. we had mountains, and sharp turns.not something us floridians get to ride on very often. the best part and what.
